A Trip to the Firestation

"People are always asking me how is it that firefighters run into a burning building when everyone else is running out. Courage is the answer." ~ Chief Kennedy in Ladder 49v
Hunter and Ashton ~ trying out the fire truck!
It was Ashton's birthday and Papa Ray had put together some computer equipment for one of the local volunteer firestations, so we all went along to help deliver the goods.  They gave Ashton and Hunter the royal tour, and we got to tag along!

The volunteer firefighters who were at the station that day taught us a lot about the trucks, their equipment, the special suits and helmets they wear, and a few things about going into a fire. It was all very interesting.
Little boys dream day
We were impressed by the dedication, commitment, and "fire" in these volunteer fire fighters hearts.  They are truly serving our community as they give of their time, their talents, skills and expertise everyday.  We salute you and the families that support and help you be there when you need to be.
The new guy at the station put on his full gear.  They have to be able to have it all on in 30-60 seconds!

Thank you for a great tour and a great way to celebrate a little boy's birthday!
And thank you, especially,  for your service to our community.

It is so wonderful that Ray is able to turn his talents into that kind of service. And what fun for Ash and Hunter-Bunter!

It was fun for all of us, well except for Ray, he was working with the computers - but I guess that is fun for him! The rest of us got to get in the firetruck and learn lots of interseting things about the equipment, firefighters, training, etc. And seeing those little boys shining eyes and big smiles was a little bit of heaven!
