Tree House Museum

"The future of the world is in very small hands."
~ Ellen Galinsky

Saturday, January 28 we went to the Tree House Museum as part of Ashton's birthday celebration.  What a terrific place for children and families.  There are lots of fun toys to play with like the giant foam and vinyl blocks above.  Children can create all kinds of fun things out of this train. There are great cultural exhibits from around the world, with hands on toys, activities and books to read.

The toys are all sturdy, and made for learning "hands on style."

Ashton building a castle in the King Arthur area.

Along with these great building toys, they also had a "stage" where children could dress up as knights and ladies and perform in a play.
Hunter and Ashton building a house out of legos.
We spent lots of time in the legos section.  Other children come and add their blocks and ideas and the house just kept growing and changing.

Ashton and Hunter guarding the sword of Excalibur
The last time Ashton and Hunter went to the museum, they went to see the sword, but alas, it was gone.  Ashton wondered, "What lucky little boy had been able to pull out the sword and become King?"  They went to play and on their way back, the sword was there again.  Ashton went up to try and pull it out and behold, out it came!  Brittany said the amazement and joy on his face was delightful to see.  So he found out what lucky little boy had become the King!

Sunshine in January

"The moment when you first wake up in the morning is the most wonderful of the twenty-four hours. No matter how weary or dreary you may feel, you possess the certainty that, during the day that lies before you, absolutely anything may happen. And the fact that it practically always doesn't, matters not a jot. The possibility is always there." ~ Monica Baldwin

Two lovely surprises today: a fun letter in the mail from Tiffany and Brett, that made us just laugh! . . . and this lovely Amaryllis from my friend Carol bloomed. Little things that bring such joy!

A Trip to the Firestation

"People are always asking me how is it that firefighters run into a burning building when everyone else is running out. Courage is the answer." ~ Chief Kennedy in Ladder 49v
Hunter and Ashton ~ trying out the fire truck!
It was Ashton's birthday and Papa Ray had put together some computer equipment for one of the local volunteer firestations, so we all went along to help deliver the goods.  They gave Ashton and Hunter the royal tour, and we got to tag along!

The volunteer firefighters who were at the station that day taught us a lot about the trucks, their equipment, the special suits and helmets they wear, and a few things about going into a fire. It was all very interesting.
Little boys dream day
We were impressed by the dedication, commitment, and "fire" in these volunteer fire fighters hearts.  They are truly serving our community as they give of their time, their talents, skills and expertise everyday.  We salute you and the families that support and help you be there when you need to be.
The new guy at the station put on his full gear.  They have to be able to have it all on in 30-60 seconds!

And thank you, especially,  for your service to our community.
